Q50 0-60 mph times Red Sport vs Hybrid

I had a shiny red 2017 Q50 Red Sport 400 AWD with all options except ProPilot for a few week and I decided to run a few 0-60 mph runs using Torque app and Bluetooth ODB II interfaces as I had done for my Q50 Hybrid here.

The best I could get in a run was about...

...5.201 seconds from 0-60 mph for the Red Sport vs. the best for a 2014 Q50 Hybrid  at 5.230 seconds with engine set to Running Mode.

The differences as far as I could tell were:

2017 Q50 Red Sport had
alot less miles on the engine ~2,100 mi. (vs ~36,000 on Hybrid).

  • 3 Year newer model with 3.0L turbo producing 400 hp (vs. 360 hp combined Hybrid hp)
  • weighing in at ~4005 lbs (vs, ~4145 lbs for Hybrid sport)
  • No spare tire, whereas the Q50 Hybrid did have additional spare tire, jack, etc,
  • Same tire pressure, but different tires - Red Sport had OEM RFTs and Q50 had non-RFT Perelli all seasons.
  • some slight differences in outside temperature, etc.

Here were the few 0-60 times with the Red Sport

First run that helped the tires get warmed up some

The conclusion is that the torque the Q50 Hybrid produces to get off the line makes up for the added weight and not having an engine with more hp and on the flip side the Red Sport does have some turbo lag that before the engine hit peak torque.

It would be a brilliant combination to have a Q50 Red Sport with a hybrid option to fill in the turbo lag, similar to what the Acura NSX has done. Granted this would add in considerable weight.
